About Laszlo Mezo
International concert artistry, brought into the lesson room.
Born in Budapest, Hungary, Laszlo Mezo emerged as one of the leading musicians of his generation when he won First Prize at the Kertész Ottó Memorial Competition at age 18. His competition honors continued internationally, including recognition at the Antonio Janigro Junior International Competition, the International Dávid Popper competitions, and First Prize at the Ima Hogg International Competition.
As a soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, master teacher, orchestral cellist, and Hollywood studio musician, Mr. Mezo brings students a rare combination of European training, professional discipline, and practical teaching insight shaped by over 20 years of high-level teaching and performance expertise.
Adjunct professor at Chapman University from 2012-2022 and assistant teacher at USC from 2007-2008.
Students have won prizes at Tchaikovsky Junior Competition, ASTA, SCJBF, Satory, and other competitions.

Mr. Mezo has appeared as a soloist with maestros Ádám Fischer, Thomas Wilkins, Grant Llewellyn, and Zsolt Hamar. As a chamber musician, he has collaborated with pianists Kevin Fitz-Gerald, Steven Vanhauwaert, Gábor Farkas, Márta Gulyás, Piotr Folkert, and Balázs Szokolay; violinist Kristóf Baráti; cellist Philipp Muller; and the Bartók Quartet. He has also performed under the direction of Zubin Mehta and Kent Nagano as a member of the Bayerische Staatsorchester in Munich, Germany.
Training and Professional Credits
Mr. Mezo holds two master's degrees from the Liszt Ferenc University of Music in Budapest and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, and he graduated from the class of Ralph Kirshbaum at the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra and an active Hollywood studio musician, with film score credits including Star Wars, Super Mario, Ice Age, Life of Pi, Pirates of the Caribbean, Wolverine, and The Lone Ranger.
